Some 20 years ago, the New York Times called Steve Ross the "Crown Prince of New York Cabaret" and it's no lie. After getting started in the 1970s at New York's fabled Algonquin Hotel & Ted Hook's Backstage, he has spent the past several decades singing all over the world - The Ritz in London, the Crillon in Paris and the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, in addition to festivals in Hong Kong, Perth and Spoleto. Ross is no stranger to St. Louisans, as he performed in 1999 in The Muny Goes British and has made several appearances at The Grand Center Cabaret. In his 2004 St. Louis appearance, Chuck Lavazzi of KDHX Radio wrote, "The fact is, Mr. Ross has a breezy elegance on stage that's reminiscent of Fred Astaire, Noel Coward, Cole Porter and, above all, the late and much lamented Bobby Short."
