Friday, November 18, 2005 at 8 p.m.

Ricky Skaggs and his award-winning group return to The Sheldon with their trademark blend of classic bluegrass sensibility and modern vitality and charisma. Winners of the 2002 International Bluegrass Music Association Award for Instrumental Group of the Year, Ricky Skaggs continues to be one of Nashville's most honored talents.

Mandolin player Skaggs began his career at the age of seven, performing on Flatt & Scruggs popular Nashville television show. Since then, Skaggs has devoted his talent to the preservation of old-time mountain music, following in the footsteps of legends such as the Stanley Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs and Bill Monroe. For most of the 1970s and 80s, Skaggs made his mark in the country music scene, earning eight Country Music Association Awards, eight Grammys and twelve number one hits. Now, nearly 25 years after his first album was released, Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder return to their roots with five bluegrass albums released over the past eight years on Skaggs Family Records.

One of Nashville's most talked about new talents, Melonie Cannon brings a fresh voice to the world of music. She has performed with artists such as Dan Tyminski, Jerry Douglas, Rob McCoury and Ricky Skaggs, who recently released her debut album on Skaggs Family Records.
